Sustainable Development Goals: Actively participating to meet global challenges for the planet

In September 2015, the 193 member states of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

It is an action plan for humanity, the planet and prosperity. It carries a vision of transforming our world by strengthening peace, eradicating poverty and ensuring its transition to sustainable development.

From this agenda emerged 17 goals that must be achieved collectively by all states.

But this roadmap cannot be carried by government representatives alone; we, as industrialists, must also work, thanks to our capacity for innovation in particular, to meet the challenges of sustainable development.

EFINOR SEA CLEANER, as an eco-responsible industrialist, actor in the preservation of the oceans, meets some of the SDGs, namely :

SDG 9: industry, innovation and infrastructure,

SDG 14: aquatic life.

Our participation to the ODD N°9: through the use of aluminum for the manufacture of its vessels, EFINOR Sea Cleaner uses the most environmentally friendly material, par excellence, 100% recyclableand non-energy consuming.

In addition, it is essential to control energy consumption. Today, this involves two main areas of development within our site:

- more environmentally friendly propulsion systems

o A 100% electric vessel already in use for water pollution control

o R&D on hybrid and electric propulsion

- a work of optimization of the resources: better insulation, equipments with low electric consumption, optimization of the electric balances...

Taking into account MDG 14, the careful management of our oceans and seas is vital for a sustainable future. It is in this sense that, as a builder of innovative vessels for marine pollution control, we are contributing, at our level, with many other players, to making our aquatic spaces cleaner.

Indeed, our vessels are one solution, among others, to meet the need to clean up water surfaces. They are a tool, like road sweepers for cleaning cities... But we cannot "lead the fight" alone.

We must not forget to take into account the importance of prevention, collective awareness, education, research ... It is a real collective work where everyone has a role to play, ours is to respond -in part- to the urgent need to clean up the surface of the seas and oceans.

Our vessels meet the need for surface cleanup of solid waste, including microplastics, and hydrocarbons. They can operate in ports, along the coast and on the high seas.
