The similarity of names predisposed the company EFINOR SEA CLEANER and The SeaCleaners, the association for the protection of the oceans founded by the navigator Yvan Bourgnon, to get together to imagine innovative solutions for marine decontamination.
Beyond the homonymity, it is the desire to share their respective expertise that inspired the partnership between the two entities.
The company EFINOR SEA CLEANER based in Paimpol (Côtes d'Armor) is specialised in the design, manufacture and marketing of multi-service pollution control vessels equipped with patented technology.
This unique and innovative recovery system is integrated into clean-up vessels and allows the collection of all types of floating waste, whether solid or liquid, including hydrocarbons.
For its part, The SeaCleaners, an association under the French law of 1901 recognised as being in the public interest, was created in 2016 to fight against plastic pollution. Through its MANTA INNOVATION (SAS) division, it develops innovative technological solutions for the collection and recovery of floating plastic macro-waste.
Its flagship project, the Manta, is an innovative vessel equipped with an onboard plant, which will be launched in 2024. This giant of the seas will be the first ocean-going vessel capable of collecting and treating floating ocean waste en masse in high-density areas (estuaries and mouths of large rivers, along the coast) before it breaks up and penetrates the marine ecosystem in the long term.
A real technological challenge, the Manta will be powered by a combination of several renewable energy production technologies to minimise its carbon footprint.
The jointly developed solutions will also be offered for sale by EFINOR SEA CLEANER and MANTA INNOVATION to public and private players wishing to engage in marine pollution control campaigns.

Commissioned for use by the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille (GPMM), the 100% electric pollution control vessel developed by EFINOR Sea Cleaner is fully in line with the strategy to decarbonize port activities.
After nearly two years of operation, the teams have embarked on a structured operational monitoring process in direct contact with users in order to capitalize on feedback from the field.
This approach aims to gain a better understanding of the actual operating constraints, everyday conditions of use, and operators' expectations in a complex and highly demanding port environment.
EFINOR Groupe M shipyards will participate in EUROMARITIME, a major event for players in the maritime economy, which will be held from February 3 to 5.
On this occasion, the group will exhibit at the Normandie Maritime stand (Hall 1 – G83) and present its full range of expertise in workboat construction, environmental solutions, and naval engineering.
