The EFINOR group had signed on 24 September 2019 a contract with theSuez Canal Authority for the sale of three pollution control vessels of the Sea Cleaner range.
These three vessels -Multi Cleaner 128- are true multipurpose vessels. They combine the functionalities of a workboat with those of a pollution control vessel.
The patented dual flow technology integrated in all the vessels of the range offers suction of floating pollution, both liquid (hydrocarbons) and solid.
This project, which will enable the Suez Canal to comply with environmental standards for water purification, is the culmination of more than three years of negotiations between EFINOR's teams and the Suez Canal Authority, with the support of the Cairo economic department.
In this sense, Fabrice LEPOTIER, President of the group, had followed the visit of the President of the Republic to Egypt, in January 2019, in order to continue the exchanges with the Suez Canal authorities. He was able to sign a letter of intent to open exclusive negotiations.
As part of the EFINOR group's industrial organisation, the 3 units were manufactured at its Cherbourg production site.
The ships are due to leave Cherbourg-en-Cotentin in mid-April, by cargo, to reach their final home port.
