The EFINOR group had signed on 24 September 2019 a contract with theSuez Canal Authority for the sale of three pollution control vessels of the Sea Cleaner range.
These three vessels -Multi Cleaner 128- are true multipurpose vessels. They combine the functionalities of a workboat with those of a pollution control vessel.
The patented dual flow technology integrated in all the vessels of the range offers suction of floating pollution, both liquid (hydrocarbons) and solid.
This project, which will enable the Suez Canal to comply with environmental standards for water purification, is the culmination of more than three years of negotiations between EFINOR's teams and the Suez Canal Authority, with the support of the Cairo economic department.
In this sense, Fabrice LEPOTIER, President of the group, had followed the visit of the President of the Republic to Egypt, in January 2019, in order to continue the exchanges with the Suez Canal authorities. He was able to sign a letter of intent to open exclusive negotiations.
As part of the EFINOR group's industrial organisation, the 3 units were manufactured at its Cherbourg production site.
The ships are due to leave Cherbourg-en-Cotentin in mid-April, by cargo, to reach their final home port.

Commissioned for use by the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille (GPMM), the 100% electric pollution control vessel developed by EFINOR Sea Cleaner is fully in line with the strategy to decarbonize port activities.
After nearly two years of operation, the teams have embarked on a structured operational monitoring process in direct contact with users in order to capitalize on feedback from the field.
This approach aims to gain a better understanding of the actual operating constraints, everyday conditions of use, and operators' expectations in a complex and highly demanding port environment.
EFINOR Groupe M shipyards will participate in EUROMARITIME, a major event for players in the maritime economy, which will be held from February 3 to 5.
On this occasion, the group will exhibit at the Normandie Maritime stand (Hall 1 – G83) and present its full range of expertise in workboat construction, environmental solutions, and naval engineering.
