The port of Tino Rossi in Ajaccio recently benefited from an exemplary marine decontamination operation, initiated by Mare Corsica. Mare Corsicafounded by Olivier Sanna, a committed sailor from Sartène. With his vessel designed to suck up plastic, micro-waste and hydrocarbons, he criss-crosses the Corsican coastline to preserve the island's waters. This local action is part of a wider dynamic, where technological innovation and awareness-raising come together to protect marine ecosystems.
Called in by Ajaccio's CCI, Olivier Sanna intervened in the marina after the Saint Erasme festivities. His 7.8-meter vessel can store up to 800 kg of plastic waste and almost 2,000 liters of hydrocarbons. Maneuverable by just one person, it has eliminated several cubic meters of waste, with a constant focus on performance and responsiveness.
But the intervention was not limited to a technical operation: an awareness-raising day was organized for the first-grade pupils of the local school. The aim was to pass on good environmental practices to the youngest pupils, and get them involved in preserving the Mediterranean Sea. This educational approach reinforces the initiative's lasting impact.
While Mare Corsica works in the field, EFINOR SEA CLEANER, a subsidiary of the EFINOR group, designs the tools of the future to meet major environmental challenges. Specializing in the manufacture of pollution control vessels, it offers high-performance units, including the Waste Cleaner 83 sold to this service company, a model emblematic of its technological and ecological commitment.
This multi-purpose depollution boat is equipped with a patented dual-flow collection system, capable of treating both solid waste (plastics, macro-waste) and liquid waste (hydrocarbons, grey and black water). Constructed from 98% recyclable aluminum, it combines industrial performance with respect for the environment.

Initiatives such as those led by Olivier Sanna of Mare Corsica bear witness to a growing mobilization for clean, lively coastlines. They also illustrate the complementarity between players on the ground, local authorities and committed manufacturers like EFINOR SEA CLEANER. Together, they form an ecosystem capable of reconciling immediate action and sustainable innovation.
